Location: The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London (travel within the UK and some international travel will be expected)

The Royal Society is a self-governing Fellowship of distinguished scientists drawn from all areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine. The Society’s fundamental purpose, reflected in its founding charters of the 1660s, is to recognise, promote and support excellence in science and to encourage the development and use of science for the benefit of humanity. The Society undertakes a range of activities to achieve its mission. This includes supporting the work of outstanding scientists through its grants programmes. These include UK-based senior and early career fellowships as well as a range of grants, fellowships and awards together with international partners. Reporting to the Head of Grant Operations and working closely with the Senior Manager for Impact and Evaluation, the post holder will be responsible for delivering an effective audit and compliance programme to ensure grants holders comply with the Society’s terms and conditions of award and that the Society’s grants programmes are delivered to the standards expected, maintaining good practice across the portfolio of grants programmes, and the systems used to support their delivery.
In addition, the post holder will be responsible for managing the evaluations of some of the Society’s grants programmes, ensuring that grants programmes are meeting their aims, and that they are managed and delivered effectively. This will involve working with the Royal Society grants section based in London and visiting host institutions for Royal Society grant funding in the UK and internationally.
